Cardinal Hotel ― Downtown Palo Alto

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Cardinal Hotel from Saturday, August 13th ― Saturday, August 20th. The Cardinal Hotel is located at 235 Hamilton Ave in downtown Palo Alto adjacent to many restaurants, bars and shops. Pricing ranges from $119 + tax for a room with shared bath down the hall, to $159―$289 + tax for rooms with ensuite bath. Weekend rates (Fri/Sat) are lower than weekdays. To reserve, please use the group booking link. The free campus Marguerite shuttle picks up passengers from the nearby Palo Alto Caltrain Station (University Avenue), and line X makes stops near the Li Ka Shing Center (LKSC).

To walk from this hotel to LKSC takes about 30 minutes. It is usually a pleasant walk; possibly hot in mid day.

Stanford Guest House ― (SLAC Campus)

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Stanford Guest House for Saturday, August 13th ― Saturday, August 20th. The price per night is $151 for a standard queen bed room and $171 for a double queen room. Reservations can be made by phone at (650) 926―2800. Please mention the group code "MCQMC0816" to receive the group rate. To book online, you will need to click on ``Stanford University'' and enter ``MCQMC0816'' in the ``Group Code'' field to receive the discounted rate. Space is limited and the group rate is only valid until May 31st. The Stanford Guest House is located on SLAC campus. Stanford's complimentary Marguerite shuttle system operates between SLAC (with a stop at the entrance to the Guest House) and the Stanford campus, and is available on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., approximately every 20 minutes.

NOTE: The SLAC campus is somewhat remote and there are no onsite dinner options, so a rental car is suggested if you choose this property. It is 2 miles (3.2 km) from the venue and Google maps estimates it as a 40 minute walk.

Additional Lodging Suggestions

Stanford University has a visitor lodging guide that has many other options. The prices they list may be out of date. Of note, the plenary speakers will be staying in the Palo Alto Sheraton.

There is also Airbnb.

The conference takes place after the summer quarter has ended and most students are likely to have left the area.
